We love toilet paper roll/ tube crafts! They are always fairly simple and are a resource we always have plenty of at home. If you do not like the idea of using a toilet roll then any cardboard tube cut down to the size of a toilet roll will work well. Ideally you don’t want to be working with a cardboard roll that is too thick as it will be more difficult to cut.
You Will Need
For this craft project you will need.
- Toilet paper roll/ tube.
- Scissors.
- Paint and brushes.
- Pen, to draw on cutting line but this can be done without.
- Optional googly eyes.
Let’s Get Creating
Firstly gather all of the supplies listed under the, You Will Need list. Either draw where to cut on the toilet paper roll or go straight into cutting. Start by cutting a rounded shape for the head. Snip a straight line around the toilet tube at the bottom of the head shape on both sides (do not cut all the way) and then cut a diagonal line on each side towards the top of the toilet tube to form the back of the cape. Now cut the cape a little shorter at the back and gently fold the cap out a little. Have a look at the image above to see how we cut our toilet tubes.
Once you are happy with the cut-out toilet paper roll it is time to paint. We used white, black, and red paints for our vampires but feel free to use whatever color you like best. It is best to apply the paint quite thinly so it dries quickly to avoid the colors blending together. Starting with the white paint on a heart shape for the vampire’s face leaving a space at the top for the hair. Using black paint add on the hair and black clothing. When the face is dry add on eyebrows, eyes (if painting), and a mouth. Don’t forget the vampire fangs! Use red paint to paint the inside back part of the cape, a little bow, and tongue detail if you are including one. You can decide if you would like to use red or white paint down the center of the vampire between his cape or perhaps use a totally different color.
If you are using googly eyes stick them to complete your toilet paper roll vamipre.
