We love to make crafts from scratch but there are times where we are short on time or energy but still want to do something creative and fun with the kids. This is where kits like the ones by Here Fashion are so great! Our girls were lucky to receive one of their paper plate animal kits to test out and it didn’t disappoint.
These kits are suitable for ages 3+ (or even younger with supervision and help) however our girls are 6 and 9 and both of them loved making the paper plate animals! Both could make up their animals totally independently which is a win for parents who want something fun and creative for their kids that doesn’t take much parental input.
If you are wanting to recreate this craft at home without purchasing the kit then that is possible too! Have a look at the photos of our assembled animals for inspiration. Use cardstock and cut out similar shapes to the animal you want to recreate. With a Sharpie or other similar pen add on the eye details. Once all of the pieces have been designed at cut out the fun really begins. Give all of the pieces to your child to assemble. Use some double-sided sticky tape to stick each piece onto a paper plate to create the animal of your choice.
You Will Need
- The Here Fashion Paper Plate Art Kit. This kit comes with everything that you need. It includes easy pop-out pieces, instructions, and adhesive tapes.
Let’s Get Creating
This kit really couldn’t be simpler. We started by looking at the made-up examples in the instruction book and deciding who was going to make which character. There was much discussion and thankfully with 10 different animals to construct we could all make some animals that we were happy with. Miss 6 made the chicken, giraffe, tiger, and zebra, while Miss 9 made the owl, frog, and peacock. The remainder, pig, fish, and tree were left for me (just quietly the fish was my favorite so I was happy with that).
Once all of the decision-making was out of the way we all selected the paper plate that matched our animal and the pop-out card. All of the pieces were popped out, the adhesive tape and small adhesive foam squares attached to the back of the pieces, and then stuck into place. It could be a good idea to place the pieces on first to get optimal positioning however the girls decided against this and went straight to sticking them all on.
This kit really was a lot of fun to make up. We had lots of nice discussions and chatter. Laughter from the girls about my pig and its big smile and talk about Miss 6’s chicken and how it is dancing because the legs are off to the side. This would be a great craft activity at birthday parties or for some stress-free rainy day crafty fun.
